How is the estimated duration for an assessment calculated?

As you select questions in the assessment builder, ReviseOnline automatically calculates an estimated duration and displays it in the summary panel alongside your total questions and total marks.

The estimate is based on the type and mark value of each question you've included, calibrated against realistic exam-style timing for the relevant course and exam authority (such as SCSA or VCAA, depending on the syllabus the content is drawn from). This gives you a genuine, ready-made guide to how long the assessment should take a student to complete, without having to work it out yourself. If you'd prefer to set your own time limit instead of using the estimate, you can override it manually when building the assessment.
